Teacher Employment Information

Teaching in a private school has many benefits including the strong sense of community, commitment to a particular educational philosophy, and flexibility to create an exciting learning environment. At West Side teachers believe in the Montessori philosophy and methodology. The children we serve grow to love learning and become both independent and responsible individuals.

Teachers are hired with the expectation that they will engage in the appropriate Montessori teacher-training course upon completion of their first school-year of employment at West Side Montessori Center. It takes a minimum of 1 year to complete the Montessori training. The year includes classes, reading, projects and papers, and culminates with written and practical examinations. Training takes place out of town and depends upon the age-level of the training program. A one-year internship under the supervision of a Montessori certified teacher is included.
